Deadman Wonderland

Deadman Wonderland is one of the action horrors stories from 2011, a manga story written and illustrated by Kazuma Kondou and Jinsei Kataoka. Deadman Wonderland anime series is produced by Manglobe and here’s some titles behind its studio like Samurai Champloo, Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai, Ergo Proxy and Karneval. Deadman Wonderland consists of 12 episodes, runs about 24 minutes per episode and aired from April 2011 till July 2011. Opening song “One Reason” performed by DWB feat. fade. Ending song “SHINY SHINY” performed by NIRGILIS. Deadman Wonderland anime series is directed by Kouichi Hatsumi.

Ganta Igarashi, a normal high school student and his classmates start to prepare for a class field trip. The destination of their class is a prison amusement park called Deadman Wonderland where all the convicts perform a dangerous act for some is entertainment or amusement but it’s a real prison. One day Ganta’s life changed when the whole class was massacred by a mysterious man in red. Ganta is the only person who survived because of the incident that happened; Ganta himself is sentenced to death and sent to the jail that he was supposed to visit on a class field trip.

Ganta is now a part of Deadman Wonderland, where the world of sadistic inmates will have their own powers, to live in a world of fear and the only way to survive inside the prison is to win. The death game is a part of the prison rules: fight for your life to survive and win every battle, Ganta must survive in this deadly game the hard part starts where you don’t know your friend from foe inside the prison. Ganta’s quest is to survive and not just to survive inside but also to know and find the mysterious “Red Man” that massacred all his classmates and clear his name.

The Deadman Wonderland story focuses on Ganta Igarashi. A normal day changed all of a sudden when all of his classmates were killed by a mysterious man. Ganta himself has been framed for a crime that he didn’t do anything in the first place and he was sent to the amusement prison called “Deadman Wonderland” that they will visit on a class field trip. Deadman Wonderland is a prison where sadistic convicts have powers sent, a place where a death game is the only way to survive is to win every game. Ganta must survive in this ruthless place where your first friend can be your foe and hard to tell in the first place, to know about the mysterious Red Man who is the real responsible why he is inside the Deadman Wonderland and to clear his name.

Deadman Wonderland anime series is produced by Manglobe and did a good job for its anime action battle series. Character design is a real starter deal for this series, the look of killing intent in the first place is visible from the start of seeing one character to another, this kind of vibe is one important part of the story. The animation is smooth, a real battle with enormous powers involved, just like the story from manga is given a life. Battle scenes with a good sense of justice for every action and detail explanation is a good answer for a complicated question at the same time. For the music choice the fighting vibe is on the song selections for the anime series, opening song a starter that this is not your norm life of Ganta Igarashi where he finds himself a way to survive is to win the battle inside the prison, and ending song as the resolve of not just finding the real culprit behind Ganta’s imprisonment.

Deadman Wonderland deserves a good anime recommendation in terms of battle entertainment inside a prison where you can find that is not your normal prison in the first place. Anime or manga? Anime is a good start for the people who don't know Deadman Wonderland. The anime series is as good as the manga. The only difference is your question will mostly be answered in manga because of the continuing story. For the manga readers some still stick into it as they don’t want disappointment but as the anime season is done it invites more readers as the anime leave a question from one to another. Both are good whenever what source you start anime is a great battle, fighting scenes came is a real plus, the manga is the source story and to answer the question left behind it will have the answers you seek. Is Deadman Wonderland an underrated anime series? Nope, not at all in terms of what I watched. How the story goes beyond the realm of powerful prisons inside is like how Ganta will face one problem to another and how he will survive his prison life is one of the highlights of the story. The rate is much more on the positive side as how the story evolves or how Ganta handles it as he continues his search for the Red Man who is the real responsible why he is inside the prison. One more thing is that the game fights inside the prison as we know to survive inside, they must fight for their own life for each battle given to them is a big highlight why it’s called an amusement prison in first place. Deadman Wonderland a story of prison life where the prisoners fight a battle not just for entertainment look from outside but to stay alive inside the prison and what’s more is that each individual have a different power that became an amusement for some but for the prisoners inside is the life is more precious for them or to kill someone for entertainment basis, hard to decide but most of all a resolve that keep you fighting for each match.
