Maburaho is a world of magicians, everyone is born with the ability to use magic. The one problem is that every magician is not born equal, the number indicates how many times or already determine your magic status you have. Kazuki Shikimori, one of the students in Aoi Academy, was looked down by his classmates because of having the lowest magic count in the whole academy. One thing is different for Kazuki: his bloodline consists of a lot of powerful magicians throughout the ages.
Kazuki’s life changes a lot after knowing his ancestors are powerful magicians and even if he is not a great magician but his offspring could be the next great magicians of all time. Three young women start to surround Kazuki; Yuna Miyama a transfer student and declared to be Kazuki’s wife upon her arrival, Rin Kamishiro a pride of swordswoman of a tradition who wants to kill Kazuki to be free for her own desires, and Kuriko Kazetsubaki member of a powerful and influential family who tries to seduce Kazuki for his genes. Kazuki needs to deal to various women chasing him.
Maburaho, a story of Kazuki Shikimori, a weak magician because of low numbers indicate or the only magic he can use throughout his life and at the same time has been looked down by most of the students in Aoi Academy. Kazuki’s life changes when he meets Yuna Miyama, a transfer student, Rin Kamishiro a swordswoman, and Kuriko Kazetsubaki from an influential family. The story is set where Kazuki’s magic is limited to use but at the same time it’s one of the powerful magic to be cast at the same time, Kazuki must not use all of his remaining magic because his life will be over. A harem story but a good magic and drama story of Kazuki’s life change not because of his ancestors but also because of Yuna, Rin and Kuriko.
Maburaho anime series is produced by J.C.Staff did a good job in terms of producing story from a light novel series, it will be a hit and miss at the same time in terms of story flow but delivering a good animation is good and a bit of magic effect and balance setting of magic and school life. For the music choice simple but easy to remember for both the opening and ending songs both performed by Ichiko and the upbeat and cool voice to listen for the opening and up to the end is hard to forget.
