Most of the people in early stage in their life have a deep thought in themselves that they are special or different from ordinary humans. They think that they are wielders of mystical powers or a descendant of a powerful realm. This is a disease called “chuunibyou” for some they called it a 14-year-old syndrome, the most embarrassing moment of a person's life as Yuuta Togashi has the scars of his chuunibyou.
Yuuta’s chuunibyou is still fresh as he still felt and calling himself as “Dark Flame Master” during his middle school years, as Yuuta looked back into his middle school years he felt the extreme embarrassment after. Yuuta decides to attend a high school far away, a place where no one will recognize him as he decides to put his embarrassment as a dark history of his life. As Yuuta starts to escape his past he meets a new classmate called Rikka Takanashi, a chuunibyou who calls herself as the vessel of the “Wicked Eye”. Yuuta's dream life and chuunibyou free is shattered as soon he meets Rikka and her Wicked Eye.
Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! the story focuses on Yuuta Togashi as a former chuunibyou himself who wakes up in a reality and decides to forget all of his embarrassing dark history being called himself as a Dark Flame Master. Yuuta decides as he attends a high school far away where no one knows him and starts a new life to free himself from chuunibyou and his dark history. As Yuuta starts a new life in a new school he meets a new classmate named Rikka Takanashi, also a chuunibyou and self-declared vessel of the Wicked Eye. Yuuta’s dream starts to crumble away as he remembers the delusion of his old self from the past.
Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! anime series is produced by Kyoto Animations or KyoAni for short, did an amazing job for adaptation from a light novel series. Character design is top notch as the start of the series and how they present the chuunibyou or the power they have inside is well made as the story goes on. The animation is really good as it focuses not just on being a chuunibyou but also why they became a chuunibyou in the first place. For the music choice is one of easy to recognize just hearing them on a first place I already feel the slice of life series, opening song a daydream or being a chuunibyou a right song for the series itself, and ending song as the four seiyuu performance is one of the best ending songs from 2012 to enjoy a reflection of who they really are as they seek their real identity.
Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! deserves a great anime recommendation in terms of a fun slice of life story, a balance of romance, comedy and drama till the end part of its series. Anime or light novel? Anime series is like an invitation to the story of Chuunibyou, is something you watch to enjoy and entertain at the same time. The anime itself is a proof that everyone much prefers watching not just to see how things or imagination works but also to feel the character behavior at the same time. The light novel series is one of short but the fun factor is the same as the anime series and which is a good thing. To experience both things either read the light novel or watch the anime series, you can feel the good vibes of the story and it is easy to understand from one part to another. Is Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! an overrated anime series? Nope, not at all in terms of rating. It's one of the good things to watch and most people enjoy this kind of slice of life anime series and get a lot of positive feedback at the same time. One of the things I read about is that Chuunibyou is a real thing for young age and it can see it anywhere and I think some people can relate in this matter and for some is like they remember what are they doing when they still young or how easy the life when you are just a kid with a high dream fantasy at the same time. Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! a great anime to enjoy is like a flashback of your childhood and remembering a super power to fight and enjoy with other people around.
