Claymore

Claymore is one of the great action series from 2007, an original manga story written and illustrated by Norihiro Yagi. Claymore anime series is produced by Madhouse and here’s some popular titles behind its studio like Death Note, One Punch Man, No Game No Life and Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei. Claymore consists of 26 episodes, runs about 23 minutes per episode and aired from April 2007 till September 2007. Opening song "Raison D’ĂȘtre" performed by Nightmare. Ending song "Danzai no Hana~Guilty Sky" is performed by Riyu Kosaka. Claymore anime series is directed by Hiroyuki Tanaka.

One day a shape shifting demon arrives at one Village where Raki’s live, with a thirst for human flesh the demon is also known as a “youma” a sudden attack happened in the village. A lone woman appears with silver eyes walks into the town with only a sword on her back or also known as “Claymore” defeats the youma to protect the people in the village. Claymore is known as half human and half youma and the only purpose of Claymore is to exterminate all the monsters around. Raki’s family is killed by a youma and his life is saved by Claymore and Clare is part of it. Raki decides to follow Clare in her journey because of nowhere else to go after his family died in the hands of youma.

Clare continues her travel with Raki, for every town they go a youma appears and continues to devour human flesh. To stop the youma Clare killed them one to another town they went as they cleansed the place before they left. As Clare goes, she also saw her fellow Claymore and continues the slay not just to prevent the human extinction but also to end all the demon life. The only thing Clare thinks is her vengeance to them as she became a Claymore on her first day.

Claymore's story focuses on Clare as she travels from one town to another to defeat a youma. One day Clare crosses her way to one town where Raki’s family lives but an unexpected event into Raki’s family is killed by youma. Clare defeats the youma who killed and consumed Raki’s family. Raki decides to follow Clare and one reason is that he doesn't have any place to go on first place after his family is killed as they visit one town to another to cleanse the place where youma or the demon eats human flesh.

Claymore anime series is produced by Madhouse and did a great job for its animation especially on battle scenes where Claymore fights youma or demons. Animation quality is cool and one reason a detail fight scene is not just to deliver a great fight stunt but also how Claymore protects humans from youma before they consume all human flesh around. Character design a detail fit for Clare as she is the main character of the story and other fellow Claymore by seeing a different type and body build to differ every battle scenario. For the song choice is a good one as it tells it’s not just about the action battle but also how hard for Claymore not just, they life of being a half youma and half human at the same time, the opening song a good song for a non-stop action battle thrill, and ending song is mostly about the life of Claymore after the bout the fought.

Claymore anime series deserves a good anime recommendation, one reason is that this is one of a great action battle from 2007 with continued adventure not just to fight but to protect the living. Anime or manga? Anime series is well made because Madhouse is well-known in a battle anime scene where every action came alive and what’s more amazing is that the story sticks to its manga source and it is great for most readers to finally see Claymore in action. Manga series is a well-drawn action battle to enjoy for every scene and the story of Claymore's life, why they continue to fight even though they know they will be consumed by the youma inside their body. The story is great and anything will do to watch or read it first but anime is cool to watch, but as the story unfolds or to know more about the characters the manga is the source for it. Is Claymore an overrated anime series? Nope, not at all but well graded for its action and story not just to build up a character but also to know the reason why they exist in the first place and why they need something that can kill them in the long term. But mostly how Clare focuses on her goal to defeat all the youma and to what extent she will need to do to happen those things is the highlight of the story. Claymore is an action and adventure anime series not just to watch but to see a great battle how Claymore will fight all the youma to prevent human flesh consumption and stop the endless killing from one town to another.
