Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei

Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei or The Irregular at Magic High School on English title, is one of the well-made stories from light novel stories from Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei series. Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei consists of 26 episodes and runs around 23 minutes per episode. The studio behind the anime production is Madhouse, a popular production in terms of anime adaptation of action or combat and mostly fight scene detailed fight. Opening song “Rising Hope” performed by LiSA and “grilletto” performed by GARNiDELiA. Ending song “Millenario” performed by ELISA and “Mirror” performed by Rei Yasuda. Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei is directed by Manabu Ono.

Magic is known as a fairy tale, myth or folklore long before but everything changes in the 21st century where magic is being taught by a use of systematic technology by learning the technical skills to produce magic. First High School is one of the seven institutions for magic in Japan, where students segregated into two groups based on the entrance exam grade score. “Blooms” for those who receive a high score and assigned at First Course, while for the others who just barely made through or pass called “Weeds” as a reserved student and assigned at Second Course.

Tatsuya Shiba and Miyuki Shiba, the story of siblings who enrolled at First High School. Upon taking an exam Miyuki placed in the First Course while his brother Tatsuya placed in the Second Course. The practical score shows that Tatsuya a Weed because of the result of a test that can’t really measure what he possesses as an extraordinary technical knowledge, physical combat and unique magic techniques he has on a different level, it what makes him the irregular at a magical school.

Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei adapts the first seven volumes of the light novel story, excluding the Summer Holiday Arc. In terms of the story of Mahouka it starts a mysterious one a story as the Shiba siblings unravels the whole First High School to enjoy a school life but also to improve to the things that they possess the magic they had for Miyuki who goes a First Course her top notch level magic she has and to his elder brother she respect most of all Tatsuya assigned at Second Course because of irregular magic and can’t measure what Tatsuya has. A complex of two different course types but for the sibling the important part is they have a peaceful life that they wish from the start. As the story goes on a good explanation from a to b is a good thing not to be confused and before it becomes more deeper as the story moves to the final part of the whole arc, is greatly done for some who wants a more detailed answer.

Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei as the animation goes is great to enjoy the whole series, the magician battle scenes something to be thankful for from Madhouse studio who knows how to create a detailed battle scene for anime. A job well done is like how you read the whole light novel story but you just watch all the scenes of the whole series. For the music choice is top notch hit for opening song and fan of LiSA and GARNiDELiA at the same time you will enjoy it and suits well for how action pack anime series the Mahouka itself. For the ending song it’s a reflection of the past of the Shiba siblings that they had before and at the same time how they live with it and becoming independent for the freedom and peaceful life as a regular high school student. A magic sound that entrains your ears for a great sound effect that it made shiver to some magic skills on battle while hearing them, hard to explain but well suited for the action part.

Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei deserves a high recommendation for the story itself, if you are a fan of science fiction and supernatural story at the same time. The story is well made and one of Dengeki Bungko series well known because of the action battle magic stored inside. If you are a fan of Saori Hayami you will mostly fall in love with her voice and hearing the phrase “onii-sama” you will be looking forward to it. Anime or light novel? Any of the two will do, but for me I read the whole series of light novels because of a lot of questions that you seek for the answer after watching the whole series. Anime is a really good thing to watch and enjoy but if you have been left behind because of some question that you seek, you will end up reading the light novel which is a good thing to learn more not just the main characters but also around them. Is the battle scene really good? Yes, it is good every battle. Tatsuya releases magic if needed into a certain fight, the thing to look forward to and how strong the other students around the Shiba siblings are. Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei is a great anime story to enjoy not just for a fan of sci-fi or supernatural and magic but for those who want to see a different action battle.
