Year 2039 Japan, ten years after the tragic outbreak of the “apocalypse virus” an event regarded as “Lost Christmas” the proud nation has fallen under the new rule of GHQ an independent military force dedicated to restore order. Funeral Parlor, a guerilla group led by Gai Tsutsugami acts as a freedom fighter and fights as a resistance to GHQ because of cruel unfair treatment. Inori Yuzuriha a famous vocalist of internet group Egoist also a member of Funeral Parlor.
Shun Ouma, a young high school student, is involved in one most crucial plan operation of Funeral Parlor when he meets Inori while Gai gives an order to safeguard a vial. When the Antibodies attack the area where Shun saw Inori and try to save her all of a sudden, the vial is destroyed in front of Shun. The vial is a powerful weapon derived from apocalypse virus that grants a power of the King, entered into Shun bodies and gave him a weapon that can rule the void. To save Inori’s life, Shun extracted the void from Inori and destroyed the Endlaves who attacked them.
The Guilty Crown story moves around Shun Ouma, an ordinary high school student who accidentally gained the power of the King and used it to save Inori Yuzuriha's life from danger. Story focuses on Shun, Inori and Gai, the leader of a Funeral Parlor who tries to free Japan from GHQ cruelty. Funeral Parlor operation needs Shun’s power to free Japan from GHQ and the only way to stop the independent military is to wield the void power to fight for freedom and protect the innocent people around.
