Absolute Duo

Absolute Duo is an anime series from 2015, from a light novel series written by Takumi Hiiragiboshi and illustrated by Yuu Asaba. Anime series of Absolute Duo is produced by 8bit and here’s some popular titles behind its studio like Grisaia no Kajitsu, Tokyo Ravens, Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei Movie: Hoshi wo Yobu Shoujo and Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken. Absolute Duo consists of 12 episodes, runs about 24 minutes per episode and aired from January 2015 till March 2015. Opening song “Absolute Soul” performed by Konomi Suzuki. Ending song “BelievexBelieve” performed by Nozomi Yamamoto (Julie Sigtuna), “Apple Tea no Aji” performed by Nozomi Yamamoto (Julie Sigtuna) and Haruka Yamazaki (Lilith Bristol), and “2/2” performed by Ayaka Imamura (Miyabi Hotaka) and Ayaka Suwa (Tomoe Tachibana. Absolute Duo anime series is directed by Atsushi Nakayama.

Tooru Kokonoe enrolls at Kouryou Academy, for a big reason is to gain a weapon called “Blaze”. Blaze is a weapon manifestation from a human soul or reflection of a human soul. Tooru’s goal is to gain power by using blaze as a weapon and seeks his revenge for his sister and friend that was killed by a mysterious man. For the opening ceremony, Tooru is forced for a battle or a duel against the other person sits next to him and the loser will be expelled.

As Tooru gets ready for the duel, when he starts to manifest his blaze manifestation, an irregular blaze appears and it’s a shield. His blaze got a lot of attention because it’s something that doesn't happen at the academy. Your weapon is a shield. One of the students got more interest and attention is Julie Sigtuna, a foreign student and dual blade blaze, decides to get Tooru as a Duo or a partner.

Absolute Duo, a story about Tooru’s seeking revenge for his sister and friend being killed by a mysterious man. The only way to gain power or to wield a blaze is to enroll at Kouyou Academy. After getting inside the academy as a student he must win a duel first to stay or be expelled when you lose the battle. Upon the manifestation of his blaze a shield appeared and disbelief and hard for him because he wants a weapon but his blaze is a shield and how he will seek revenge if he can’t use it to fight from the start. For the story revenge becomes a common thing but to seek for it and get a weapon that you don’t usually see is something how Tooru will handle his revenge for a shield weapon. A good start but confusing to some parts because of unexplained terms or details.
Absolute Duo anime series is produced by 8bit studio and did a good job for a good fight scene. One of the problems is the story adaptation, something confusing because of a lack of explanation for some terms after the blaze introduction. Anime quality is good but a bit hard to understand the story because of unexplained or untold things while on action. The song choice is good and balanced for the opening song, a bit of a thrill start, and ending song performed by the seiyuu of the anime series, a bit common but amazing voice to listen to, after done in the main story.

Absolute Duo deserves a good anime recommendation, if you are a fan of fan service or echii this is for you, harem is your genre this anime series is made for you. Anime or light novel? I think I will go for the light novel because the story is much more told and the detail or the information why this thing happening around on one arc you will understand more for the light novel series. For the anime if you are looking for a fan service or school harem you can watch it but for the story go for the light novel. Is Absolute Duo an underrated anime series? Yes, for most comments that I saw it’s a common anime story to seek a revenge and got something irregular after, that’s the other point of view but if you want a series to watch a short series for action and with a touch of harem I think it will pass for some people who watch anime series to entertain themselves or pass some time. Absolute Duo is an anime series to watch for some because of different perspective views but it's still an anime with good entertainment for harem fanservice it’s hard to pass for this anime.
