Busou Renkin

Busou Renkin for some or English title is Arms Alchemy, an anime adaptation from a manga series of Busou Renkin. The manga series of Busou Renkin is great because of the detailed artwork and blend of comedy and action at the same time. Busou Renkin consists of 24 episodes, runs for 24 minutes per episode and aired from 4th quarter of 2006 to 1st quarter of 2007. The anime adaptation is produced by Xebec. Opening song “Makka na Chikai” performed by Fkukuyama Yoshiki. Ending song “Hoshi Akari” performed by Jyukai and “Itoshiki Sekai” performed by Aya Kagami. Busou Renkin is directed by Takao Kato.

Kazuki Muto, an ordinary high school student, one night while walking all alone he saved a mysterious girl from a monster attack that caused his whole life. Kazuki wakes up in the dorm. It's like nothing happened at all and just a dream to believe something you don’t see. Kazuki soon finds out that what happened last night is not a dream at all when a giant serpent monster attacks him and her sister. After a long run Kazuki saw the mysterious girl he saved last night.

Tokiko Tsumura, the name of the mysterious girl that Kazuki saved and explained that the monster that killed him is called a homunculus. Tokiko becomes responsible to Kazuki because he was killed to save her from last night's attack and explains that she puts a “Kakugane” medallion in his chest serving as a heart replacement for Kazuki. As Tokiko explains about the Kakugane, an alchemist device that when activated takes a certain form based on the Kakugane user. The form is called “Busou Renkin” the only thing that can destroy a homunculus, Kazuki creates his own Busou Renkin made from lance and called “Sunlight Heart” and Tokiko Busou Renkin called “Valkyrie Skirt”. Kazuki joins the fight to protect the people at danger from homunculus and their master.

Busou Renkin a good shounen story to enjoy everything at the whole season, your typical battle story with some power up to defeat the stronger foes around. For the story it's entertaining because of the action and comedy balance inside, one season for a good story and easy to follow the whole thing. Character development is the next thing to look at, mostly the main character is the only one who gets it all but in this story rival also exists to balance the whole story and backstory made it short and easily explained everything at short time, is the strong point for the whole series.

The animation of Busou Renkin is entertaining in terms of fight scenes that you can remember some of them but the details of the weapon or the Busou Renkin itself when they reveal and use it in the fight gets my whole attention into it. The opening song Makka na Chikai is a strong indication that this is Busou Renkin anime series, easy to remember because a good opening suits well for the whole season. For the ending song it’s like part a and part b setting, for part a question to appear and looking into it, for part b is like an indication that the whole question will be answered in that part.

Busou Renkin deserves a good recommendation to watch, in terms of story it's good run is like you saw the whole manga series at the same time. Action and comedy at the same time, is a great balance not too stiff for a serious part but also, they blend everything even it’s a school setting and with a whole of fantasy and supernatural events inside the whole series. Anime or manga? For me anime because of the action battle that mostly everyone wants to see the moving things around, it’s not I’m against the manga is just I want the entertainment of the whole action battle but for the manga part it’s well detailed artwork for Busou Renkin they use.  Is the manga series finished? Yes, it’s finished. They had 10 volumes and 83 chapters for the whole story and it’s the one reason for anime adaptation. Busou Renkin is fun to watch, for the people who like action and comedy this anime is a good choice.
