Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu or Baka & Test – Summon the Beast in English title but mostly known as Baka to Test for short. Baka to Test is a popular light novel series written by Kenji Inoue and anime adaptation from Silver Link. Baka to Test got first place from the “Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! ranking under Best Light Novel category in 2010. Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu consist of 13 episodes, runs around 24 minutes per episode and aired from January 2010 to April 2010. Opening song “Perfect-area complete!” performed by Natsuko Asou. Ending song “Baka Go Home” performed by milktub and “Hare Tokidoki Egao” performed by Hitomi Harada, Kaori Mizuhashi, Emiri Katou, and Tomomi Isomura. Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu is directed by Shin Onuma.

Fumizuki Academy isn’t your regular high school in Japan, they have a unique system to sort its students. When at the end of the freshman year, all the students take a test that will divide the whole student’s class. From A class which is the highest and F class is the lowest class of all. Akihisa Yoshii where his so called great wasn’t enough for such a test and stuck at the bottom of F class. 

F class has the worst facilities all the class around, not only rotten tatami mats around also broken tables, outdated equipment and worn out furniture. But on a good sight Akihisa's best friend Yuuji Sakamoto is in the same class, and the big surprise of all is the genius girl Mizuki Himeji also ended up in the F class because of unforeseen fever on the day of the test. All at F class unsatisfied in the condition they had inside the room, Yuuji determines to take on the higher-class rank in order to seize the perks and better class condition by using the school “Examination Summon Battle” system. Where the participants can summon characters of their own where the power level is equal to the student test score.

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu a battle for different classes where if you win on the higher class, you can take over the class facility they had. A battle to improve the class facility and condition of the students inside the classroom. A unique way of battle by using the Examination Summon Battle system to determine not just who is better at class level but also to gain something for improvement. The story of Baka to Test is more on strategic level with a fun factor at the same time, where Yuuji who leads the charge of the F class and his buddy Akihisa acknowledge the plan he creates to succeed and win one step at a time. 

Baka to Test animation produced by Silver Link. done a good job not just on the adaptation of the light novel story but the battle scenes of Examination Summon Battle. The animation is good to showcase not just the battle itself but also the comedy parts of the whole story delivered on spot. For the music choice the opening music is a good feeling not just the title itself is the reflection of the Examination Summon Battle and the ending music the feeling of every battle they did for every class they face upfront.

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu deserves a great recommendation because of the good fun story and the strategy plans they used not just to win the battle but also how to outsmart the other class not because the class level they came from but how they determined to raise the top class A goal, balance animation story delivery and good battle scenes inside Fumizuki Academy. Anime or light novel? The story is interesting and a good story to read, but first of all I only know the title when they release anime adaptation and decides to read some and that’s why the story is good and refreshing at the same time not because the setup is comedy but the balance and how character blends to everyone around, story wise not to complicated and relaxing to read them. Anime is a good thing to see everyone in action. Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu is a great anime to watch, an entertainment of good comedy and some strategic battle makes it more interesting and a bit of romance is the fun part to enjoy the whole series.
