Angel Beats!

Angel Beats! one of the great anime series of 2010 because of the original animation series written by Jun Maeda and directed by Seiji Kishi. P.A. Works produce a lot of well-known series like Another, Charlotte and Tari Tari. P.A. Works project mostly known for original anime and afterwards some titles adapted for manga to know the other parts of the story and because of limited anime time. Angel Beats! consists of 13 episodes with a duration of 24 minutes for each episode.

Otonashi, Yuzuru wakes up only to learn of his death. Otonashi meets Nakamura, Yuri to learn everything about the afterlife.  The only thing Otonashi remembers is his own name, he can’t remember anything on how he died or any memories left behind aside from his name. Nakamura tells Otonashi that she leads the “Shinda Sekai Sensen” (Afterlife Battlefront) and wages a war against Tenshi. Otonashi can’t believe what Nakamura says all about and decides to talk to Tenshi, when Otonashi is near and attempts to speak all of a sudden, the encounter he had doesn’t go as planned. Tenshi is also known as Tachibana, Kanade. Tachina is also the president of the student council. Otonashi decides to join the Shinda Sekai Sensen or SSS for short. Otonashi is still drawn to Tenshi while trying to regain his memories, as he unravels the mysteries of the afterlife.

Angel Beats! is like a place of afterlife, a place where students want to do something first before they go for good. This story is much more heartfelt for the people who want to do more in this world and all of a sudden everything stops. Because your time is up and the only thing you can do is accept it little by little. A story more on regrets and accepting them from the time you are inside the place to stay. Otonashi looks for a way to recover his lost memories and learn what he really searches for in the afterlife. Why is he still at this afterlife place, do Otonashi have regrets in life? A question to his own that he looks for the answers.

Angel Beats! the story is fun and life changing, look at real life. A great story to watch and a lot of lessons to learn. A great story that anyone can relate easily, because some people don’t know how to enjoy life to the fullest, they have, people learn and will have a regret for the things you don’t really want to do. A life exists and spend it wisely because not all the time your life is created equal but you can reach goals in life by doing the things that you know will make a better for everyone.

Angel Beats! music mostly matches the story theme itself for opening “My Soul, Your Beats!” performed by Lia popularly played on 2010 and LiSA version. Closing theme “Brave Song” performed by Aoi Tada and “Ichiban no Takaramono” performed by karuta and also have LiSA version most requested song from LiSA. LiSA version of Ichiban no Takaramono became a popular hit and felt the emotion and message of the song itself.

For the animation quality of Angel Beats! it’s quite good and fluid even if it's more on simple movement and story-oriented class but still great for my eyes not to bland but so presentable on it. P.A. Works done an amazing job indeed in Angel Beats! a story that you will not forget because of the settings and the quality of the animation itself is cool to watch all over again. Most of the anime released by P.A Works makes you wonder how great the story they have on hand and never fail to amaze me as time goes by.

Angel Beats! deserves a high recommendation because of the story it has, a refreshing story that is hard to find so far. In terms of music LiSA became a well-known JPOP artist around the world a song that can be sung with an emotion is indeed hard to find. Otonashi is a great guy, no spoiler as much as possible doing this review, but for me his character never changes at all before he goes to the afterlife and doing the same thing in the afterlife is a big heart felt to like his character. Action, comedy, drama, school life and supernatural all in this to spare some time to watch Angel Beats!
